As part of the CEIAG activities at Castle School, students visited the local Lidl store to explore the various roles within the store. They spoke with employees at different levels to understand their career journeys, salaries, and the qualifications required and obtained.

Students had the opportunity to work at the checkout area, gaining an understanding of how to use the cash register and its functions. This was a fun and insightful experience for the students, who were overseen and supported by the Duty Manager.

Students were briefed on the various health and safety regulations in each area of the store. This knowledge is crucial for all employees to be aware of and practice daily. Our students, having never been exposed to a live working environment, gained a new appreciation for these regulations. They now understand that all workplaces have strict health and safety guidelines that employees must follow.

Students were introduced to the stock-taking and ordering processes. These processes are automated by computer technology, which tracks stock as items are purchased. The next day’s stock automatically arrives on pallets for staff to place on the shelves.
