Year 11 Castle students visited Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service and spent the morning participating in a range of activities. This visit is part of our post-16 offer, designed to expose students to various occupations and working environments.

During the visit, students explored the fire engine and the equipment it carries. They had the opportunity to wear fire rescue clothing and protective gear. They learned about the different roles and responsibilities within the Fire Service, as well as the skills, qualities, and qualifications required.

Students witnessed firefighters responding to a practice call-out and were actively involved in the experience. They were shown how to use hoses and machinery used in different emergency situations.
