Year 9 students visited J16 Construction provision at Copeland Street. They visited to observe the ongoing work and speak with provision leaders about their career paths and opportunities for developing various skills within the construction industry. They explored what qualifications providers look for to enable entry onto different courses. Identifying skillsets and the salary associated with different tradespeople.

Year 9 (Group 2) met a Youth Engagement Police Officer at a local café to discuss careers in her field, her career journey and the skills needed for her role and other roles in this field. Students completed the ‘Evaluation of Employment’ activity reflecting on what they have learnt from the previous day’s visits.

Tenner Challenge

For Career’s Week at Castle School, key worker group 10C1, have completed the ‘Tenner Challenge’, by designing, creating and selling cakes to raise money for the Sam’s Superhero Foundation.

The teams had to source ingredients, prepare sales pitches, and plan selling events with a budget of just £10. At end of the Challenge, students decide how to donate their profit. 10C1 was able to raise £33.85 selling chocolate cornflake cakes and have proven that they are entrepreneurs of the future. The proceeds will help to support a charity that gives so much to our students.

A really successful end to a lot of hard work, well done 10C1!
