Castle School Careers Lead Welcome

Welcome:

Welcome to Castle School Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) area of the website. We work so hard to help prepare our young people for life at school and support them every step of the way in securing post-16 destinations. We understand the challenges around securing the next destination for students and the perceived barriers that come with it. We work with parents, carers and students to remove these perceived barriers and find appropriate post-16 provision for each individual.

Our Mission:

Castle School’s mission is to deliver a careers programme as a discrete curriculum, which is fully imbedded in the personal, social, health and economic education (PSHE) framework. We also want to create personalised opportunities for all students to develop their employability skills, knowledge of further education options and awareness of the world of work. PSHE and the careers programme promote self-awareness, decision making, coping with transitions, relating to others, healthy living and wellbeing in a careers context.

It is also our mission to create and maintain networks of colleagues (internal and external) and employers who can support us in supporting and developing the students at Castle School.

Aims:

  • We ensure every student has access to a Level 6 qualified Careers Adviser.
  • Students will be supported in completing a CV and covering letter and also be exposed to a mock interview process with external providers.
  • Students will all have the opportunity to visit prospective colleges, providers and places of work to help inform their next steps and to expose them to different environments to help raise aspirations.
  • We know that every student is different and will need to take different pathway and we pride ourselves on support our students through this process.
  • Each young person has dedicated key workers to support both the students and parents/carers to make the best most informed decisions and assist in making every student transition a successful one.
