On June the 17th, Castle School had a trip to the National Space Centre in Leicester. Seven pupils from year nine and ten arrived in the morning and watched a short film about the anatomy and experiences of astronauts on the Space Station in the Planetarium. This was a mind blowing experience for us all, the screen made us feel as if we were moving around in space!
We then looked around the rocket tower and saw various real life retired rockets and looked at the displays about the history of space travel. The 1960’s living room and household items very particularly interesting.
After lunch we walked around the rest of the centre and learnt about the planets, held asteroids and compared their weight with rocks, climbed inside rockets and looked at a real section of a space rocket. The sleeping area, space toilet and shower were tiny!
All of our students made us proud with their excellent behaviour and manners and we all had a fantastic day, especially in the rocket launch simulation at the end.
