The Horizon Pathway

“Supportive foundations that keep aspiration high’

This pathway to learning spans across groups in year 7, Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. Our Horizon is taught by one teacher and follows a more holistic curriculum. This follows the National Curriculum with distinct subjects which is often focused on bridging gaps in learning and social/emotional development resulting from historical non-engagement in education.

Intent:

  • Provide a safe, structured, and supportive space for emotional and academic development
  • Offer a rich and varied curriculum with consistent adults and routine
  • Maintain high expectations for learning and social growth
  • High support and appropriate stetch challenge

Curriculum Features:

  • Cross-curricular learning and topic-based approaches
  • Access to practical subjects (e.g. art, sport, food tech)
  • PSHE and personal development deeply embedded
  • Focus on pupil voice, choice, and social development
  • More enhanced AP offer
  • Integrated therapeutic approaches including mentoring, counselling, and regulation strategies e.g. Fagus and Elsa
