RESPECT Values and Rewards

At Castle School we use the RESPECT core values as the foundation for rewarding positive student behaviour. Students have the opportunity to earn points by consistently demonstrating these core values throughout the school day.

Key Workers share the number of achievement points a student have received from the previous day. Students record their points in their Student Passport.

Pupil voice, through the School Council has informed the rewards and prizes associated with the number of points received.

To ensure consistency across the school, every classroom displays an identical noticeboard. Each noticeboard includes the following information and updates:

  • Attendance information
  • School Council
  • Ready to Learn (R2L) points chart
  • General school notices

Each half term, we focus on one of the RESPECT core values. The schedule of values is as follows:

  • Autumn 1: Responsibility
  • Autumn 2: Empowerment
  • Spring 1: Sense of Belonging
  • Spring 2: Personal Learning
  • Summer 1: Empathy
  • Summer 2: Consistency and Tolerance

Ready to Learn (R2L) sessions take place daily from 8.50am to 9am. Ready 2 Learn expectations are clearly displayed in each classroom and Key Workers support students in their preparation for the school day.

At the end of each term, students are invited to attend a rewards trip if they can demonstrate that they have showed the RESPECT core values throughout the school term.
